Our History & Partners

Professions North/Nord (PNN) is an initiative brought forth by the Faculty of Management at Laurentian University.  It stemmed from the identification in 2010 of a need for a support program that integrates internationally trained professionals (ITPs) into the workforce in Northern Ontario.

With funding from the Government of Ontario and the Government of Canada, PNN began developing services geared towards professionals in the fields of financial services and accounting.  In Northern Ontario, there is a strong need for bridging programs accessible to all professions, so PNN has expanded its service offering to all internationally trained professionals.

PNN has partnered with the North Bay & District Multicultural Centre, Employment Options Emploi (Timmins), the Thunder Bay Multicultural Association, the Sault Community Career Centre, and the Sudbury YMCA Employment & Newcomer Services.  These organizations act as frontline service providers and ensure that there is a hub for PNN services throughout Northern Ontario.  For those communities not serviced by our partners, online support and calls to our head office in Sudbury are readily available.
